When I bought my truck about 2 years ago It had a chip in the ecm. about 6months ago it died and wouldnt start, I threw a couple of cam sensors at it and nothing, had it towed to the dealer ($75) and they charged me $380 to remove the chip and tell me it was bad. I have had a couple of people tell me I could put it back in, if it messes up again just take it out and unhook the batteries. I want a chip, but cant afford a new one, this thing is a dawg compared to chipped. Think would be allright?

Try cleaning the contacts on the PCM better, then reinstall the chip and tape it in good... Chips rarely "go bad" but the Ford Dealers don't know squat about them. Do you have gauges? Running a chip without gauges is like playing RR... dangerous game!

It was in there and taped up good before the dumbazz at ford pulled it, how do I clean the contacts and does it only go in one way? Also I dont have any guages but the chip was in there for almost 8 years I think if it was going to hurt it would have done it by now, but I dont know. Guages are my next purchase ( and tires!).:thanks
