officially no you aren't supposed to run it however many have run it for 100k+ with no ill effects.

according to those in the know it's supposed to be bad for the copper injector sleeves and a few other things. I'm currently running it with no problems but plan on switching on my next change. No reason to tempt fate. Most of the posts i've seen against it were from IH techs that have supposedly seen some of the ill effects. see here... if i can post the link http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubb...&olderval=6&oldertype=m&bodyprev=#Post2527407

I have been running Cat ELC for several years without a problem. Asking about it at TDS usually turns into a heated debate just like in the thread linked above. Does Ford recommend it? No! Does Ford recommend putting a chip in the computer? Does Ford recommend Stage II injectors? I think we could go on forever with what they do-not recommend. Many guys run it without problems including me. ELC article explaining why they don't recommend it.
