I'm ready for a brake job and turned the rear rotors smoothing out warps and rust over the years that I guess they're about due to be replaced. Not sure about front rotors although the pads are about gone, and sooner or later they'll need changing too.

I've been reasonably satisfied with the stock (replaced once) rotors, as long as I keep 'em cleaned up and remove pad glaze once in a while. Until I tow a heavy load and then sometimes get a warped rotor! So I'm thinking about slotted rotors. I see a lot of traffic here about power slot rotors and hawk pads... Any other favorites out there? How is the performance comparison to OEM HD rotors ($113 each at PowerStrokeShop.com, front or rear)and pads ($101 front, $68 rear)? I'm not wanting to shell out lotsa bucks just for the sake of having slotted rotors, but first blush they seem competitve.

This link has some prices, are they reasonable ($302 rear, $284 front, pairs)? I think they're giving up pads (Posi Quiet brand) if you buy a rotor pair, if I read the ad right in the 4wheel parts catalogue. DPPI lists them at $275 rear and $255 front (pairs).

Oh, for '02 F250 trucks this link shows smaller diameter rear rotors (12.84") versus front (13.03"). I didn't realize they were different sizes, true? The power slot website only offers options for a 99-04 4WD SD w/3.92" tall front disc. Not sure what the 3.92" refers to?, and if you'd recommend cryo would it be front & rears too? Thanks!

Several of the guys here like frozen rotors. They seem to stay flat under heavy braking. Someone will chime in, I am sure. You can look up "frozen brake rotors" on Yahoo or Google and see for yourself.

i just went drilled/slotted w/ a Z26 pad... from brakemotive in chicago...below is an excerpt from my email from him to me!
if you talk to him - reference me (red 6 0-no =dan), very nice guy, knows what he is talking about...quick delivery, good correspondence...you'd need to get your 'specific' sized rotor for your year and follow the break-in procedure...i only have a couple hundred miles on them, seem to stop real well.

"Hi Dan,

Attached you will find pictures of the different options we offer in terms of rotor machining/plating. Right now we only have drilled and slotted and slotted only rotors for your application ready to ship. Drilled only will require about a week lead time to machine and ship. Black zinc coating is available for $30.00 a set (four rotors) and adds about 3 days to lead time. The truck and tow 26 series pads are $60.00 extra Brake Pad Compounds. (powerstop.com)

So total cost for front and rear rotors (any configuration except black coating) and pads (26 series) shipped, is $293.00.

The part numbers for your application are;

F Rotors: AR8580XL & AR8580XR
R Rotors: AR8571XL & AR8571XR

F Pads: 26-756
R Pads: 26-757

Thanks,
Adam" - [email protected], office 708-325-1109
