I need a new set. The ones I got from NAPA are the WORST brake dust makers that I have ever seen.

I want to buy some locally and need some suggestions.

i have had the super duty hawk pads made for heavy haulin, the only draw back is that they squeek alot when your bobtailin, but they were normally dusty.

i just changed mine last week, and tried out some safety-T stop pads by NAPA, too early to see whether they will be dusty or not.

as much as i wash my truck, it really don't matter to me.

The true stop pads are bad from Napa, they are the lowest grade. The next grade is what I have on my truck and they are dusty also. But you have to remember that semimetallic pads will be dusty. Ceramic are the expansive non dust pads. If your truck has drum rear they automatically adjust when you use the parking brake. This will cut down on your front pad useage if the rears are kept tight.

I would use Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads. Michigan state police test results showed when they were added to a 98 or newer Crown Vic, it stopped as good as the Z28 camaro. I put them on my Crown Vic with the larger rotors and dual piston calipers and it stops as well as my Mustang with 13" rotors and dual piston calipers.

I know out trucks are much heavier but they are awesome pads. I have them in all my cars except my X because it only has 8k miles on it.

When I go to change pads on the X I will use the Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads.

If you buy the pads from Autozone they come with a lifetime warranty. When they wear out just return the old pads for new!

I put some Raybestos Ceramic's on the front of mine, very quiet and they stop very well, VERY little, if any, dust.

I've got Performance Friction Carbon Metallics from Autozone and would NOT reccomend them. They used to have 2 type for our trucks, the Carbon Metallics and another version. The other version was highly reccomended by others. They have discontinued that version. The CM's made a noise for a LONG time after I put them on. I did a proper bed in TWICE to no avail. The noise finally went away. They also seem to have INCREASED stopping distance and fade. I will not use them again.:dunno

I've run those on my Jeep for the last 5 or 6 years now and they've done great, must've been the older kind that's now been discontinued.

Is it true that ceramic pads get hotter and so, increase rotor warping likelihood?
