Well, I succumbed to the hype a week ago and decided to try the BLUE MIRACLE CPS in my truck. Had 80k on the current one, so wanted to get a spare anyway. $105 and a few bandaids later, and I was running in the Blue Zone.

After a week and about 1000 miles, I've noticed no reduction in body odor and my "male pattern baldness" is not reversing.-mad So much for miracle cures.

Ok, so as far as my truck goes, after I installed the CPS, idle seemed smoother and there was a bit less injector clatter. However, those are things that seem to come and go with my truck, and sure enough by the end of the week the sounds were back to normal.

As to power, there is a fairly long grade I travel daily, and on the first day, seemed to have more power going up, and more compression braking going down. The rest of the days seemed more normal, so likely wind was a factor more than the CPS.

Fuel economy is harder to judge overall as I run WVO on the highway. I have a top fill WVO tank in the bed however, so that mileage I can measure accurately. MY WVO highway only mileage 2 fills prior to the CPS was 22.2 and 23.23 mpg (again, highway only). Using the same techniques, the 2 fills after the Blue CPS were 22.76 and 22.7, so no real improvement yet. Dang, another miracle MPG improver that didn't work for me. I should be getting 1000 MPG by now with all this stuff I've tried:p

The Blue CPS does have a stronger magnet by far, so maybe it will be more accurate and reliable overall. I don't know about longevity tho, as the IH guy knew the part number from memory. That would seem to indicate they sell quite a few of them. :dunno

Anyway, it is not any worse than the standard CPS, so I will probably stay Blue from here out unless problems arise. I'll get in some #2 only runs eventually and see how they compare. Will post if anything changes.

Interesting results Don, I have wondered if the blue CPS was a placebo. But in your case, you are already getting exceptional mileage, someone who was/is only getting 16 mpg might see an improvement? If my current CPS dies I would probably try a blue one, but I wont run out and get one just for the S & G's of it.

mike.i dont think we can use the DTs CPS as it supposedly advances the timing wich our chips already do.i asked about this over on TDSand thats the answer i got.

Well, theoretically, we can still use it right? The PCM programming will just overide the benefit of the advanced timing? As far as longevity, if the blue CPS turns out to be a better built unit then would it make sense to use one? Or am I out in left field all together and the blue CPS just wont work on a chipped truck?

What I scanned of one of the Blue CPS threads was that guys w/ chips were running them w/ no noticeable difference however none of the guys had modded injectors or custom programming.

My understanding is that w/ the stage 1's to get the fuel delivered you need a fair amount of timing advance so the results could be catastropic if you've got both.

IMHO the computer the computer has the ability to adjust the timing within the ranges that the CPS would change which would explain why you would see a SOP power increase shortly after installation but no real change in the long run. Once you put it in the computer assumes it's the old sensor that it's adapted to and then it begins to adapt to the new one and corrects things again to put them back to where they were.

I'll be interested in seeing the longevity issue.

i dont have a complete understanding about how the chips work but i think the chip completely over rides the PCMs timing circuit and uses the timing setting that are programmed in the chip. confused yet?

so lets say the PCM has abase timing of 3 degrees BTDC and the chips program has 4degrees BTDC,now the PCM is gonnabe using the chips timing.now add the DT466 CPS and say that advances the timing another 4 degrees BTDC without the pcm or chip doing anything.now add that to the timing on the chip and you have a total of 8 degrees BTDC.now say 7 degrees is the max safe advance and youll be burning holes in pistons and breaking rings.and with modded injectors and IDMs that advance the timing a small amount and youcould be heading for some serious trouble.

now if im wrong in my thinking here, please correct me.

Well I assembled 10 or so PSDs and spin tested them when I worked for a machine shop. I also did all the block do I have a good idea of the cam and sensor orientation.

The only way I can see any timing change is from 2 theories:

1) the 466 cps has a different point of reference then the OEM. like the "center" is in a different position. maybe goes in at a different angle:dunno

2) the stronger magnet picks up the cam better and "corrects" the timing, which is really what's happening in theory one just not changing the reference points from the cam to sensor physically, just electronically I guess

And I thought in the big thread on this in the SD forums over there, they thought it retarded ours because the 466 guys use the 444es cps to advance timing. I only read like 4 pages of that thread though.

Thats what I gathered as well, but I know there was considerable disagreement on that. Be hard to tell without using the CPS signal to trigger a strobe, and compare the 2.

Disagreement?! LOL....if that's what you call it. I may try one, need to buy a spare since I gave mine to my cousin last week.

If it quietens the my noisy azz truck, it will be money well spent.-popcorn .
