I have a 97 F-s/d. The #22 fuse blows as soon as I turn the key on. & then without warning , I can put another fuse in & it will start for about 1 second & then die. I check the fuse & it is blown again. I checked the whole wire harness & it is all right. I don't know what to check next.

The heating element in the bottom of the fuel bowl is shorted out. You can unplug it and it will be fine. If you live in a colder climate you can replace the heater when you get a chance but just unplugging it will get you on the road again.

By the way the plug is about 1/2 way down the bowl on the drivers side. There are 2 wires on the driver side of the fuel filter housing. The top one with a boot on it is the one. The bottom one is for your water-in-fuel light.
