Big Boy pics

I went down to one of the parks in town to take some pictures of the Union Pacific Big Boy locomotive they have on display there so that I can get to work on making some of the detail bits for the model I'm building as a X-mas gift for my father-in-law. Here are some of the more wide angle shots--there would be more but the batteries in my camera gave out ~1/2 way through taking pictures.

FWIW--the fence in the pictures is 6 feet high and I took the pics while standing up (I'm 6'2" tall) so that should give some perspective on just how HUGE this thing is...

Now that I got a new set of batteries, I'll take some better shots next week. Every time I go by that park, I get more and more impressed with the scale of that locomotive and how a comparatively old-technology steamer was so powerful compared to the 1st/2nd generation diesels.

yup that is a big train.i almost bought one for my train set that goes under my christmas tree.but ended up gettin something else.
