Better MPG

Today I went to fill up and it was over $4 per gallon. It was around $140 to fill it up. What are the best improvements I can do for better MPG. I know it will cost me, but I got to do what I got to do.

Ditch the stock filter for a Donaldson style filter #46637 from FleetFilter Online Store you'll need a 4" length of 4" exhaust tubing to complete the upgrade.

Or just go for the big boy an AFE Stage 2 Proguard 7 filter kit.

Use less brakes. The more speed you can carry through turns the less power you gotta put down on the next straight away. Also, If you see a red light up ahead just let off the throttle. No need to speed up to a red light. Yo can also try to gain speed on a down hill so you have less power needed to get uphill.

They say that a programmer is worth a couple of MPGs but I have yet to see that.

Smaller, shorter tires are better for MPGs as well as better aerodynamics like regular mirrors instead of towing mirrors and a Tonneu cover or Air Gate.

CHP, I already have the filter(I guess I should put that in my signature) and it helped alittle. Now I'm wondering how much better the Stage 2 is compared to Stage 1 Afe filter. And do you know which I should do first, new exhaust or intake?

None of it will help enough to ever pay for itself even if diesel hits 5 bucks a gallon. I've gotten 17 out of my truck since the day i bought it stock. I've AFE'd it, Donaldson'd it, strait piped, walker BTM, etc, etc. I still get 17.

Don't do it for fuel savings. It won't pay off. You can increase fuel economy greatly by modifying driving habits, as perviously mentioned.
