I am wanting to increase my horse power and torque slightly, and was not wanting to decrease my fuel mileage. What is the best way to do this? I have a 4" exhaust and K&N air filter. I am looking for the simple and less expensive way to go.

Welcome... how much is slightly?

As you will soon learn, most folks try to lean away from the K&N setup as it doesn't filter as well as other options out there.

There are lots of cheap mods that will make a little bit of a difference.

Here's a few links to help you out.

We've got this "Wiki" up at the top that has articles of how to do lots of good stuff...Here's my picks

DIY Air Filter -- you can replace your K&N setup with this....
TikiWiki : DIY Large conical style air filter

Shim your FPR to increase fuel pressure
TikiWiki : Shimming the FPR 99-03 7.3

10K Mod
TikiWiki : 10 K Mod

I haven't don the shim yet, but did notice performance gains with the other two mods. I don't think that these alone will equate to a chip or programmer, but it get's you on the way for cheap.

Do you have gauges?

255,000 on my k&n AND I've never had a problem. Easy on the go petal is the only real way to get better mileage.
