Has anyone else beeg gettin these kind of emails, where they want to send you millions because some old geezer that was filthy rich has no family to pass on his money too?

i have been receiving at least 2 a week, where they want me to accept these millions into my bank account.

i know this is a scam, but not sure how it works, and how someone gets takin in, and what you will loose if someone was to go along with it.

From Mr Eric Kamara

My name is Mr Eric Kamara, a Banker and accountant with a prime bank here
Abidjan. I am the personal accounts manager to Engr.Miller , a National of
your Brazil, who used to work with an oil servicing company here in Cote D'
Ivoire.

My client, his wife, and their three children were involved in the ill fated
Kenya Airways crash in the coasts of Abidjan in January 2000 in which all
passengers on board died. Since then I have made several inquiries to your
embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives but has been
unsuccessful After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his
last name over the internet, to see if I could locate any member of his
family hence I contacted you. Of particular interest is this huge deposit
with our bank here in, where the deceased has an account valued at about
($8.5million US dollars). They have issued me a notice to provide the next
of kin or the bank will declare the account unserviceable and thereby send
the funds to the bank treasury.

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over last 2
years now, I will seek your consent to present you as the next of kin of the
deceased since you have the same last names, so that the proceeds of this
account valued at ($8.5million US dollars) can be paid to you and then you
and I can share the money. All I require is your honest cooperation to
enable us seeing this deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed
under all legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of
the law. In your reply mail, I want you to give me your full names, address,
date of birth, telephone and fax numbers for proper communications.

Thanking you for your anticipated cooperation
Mr Eric Kamara

Here in Dallas on the local news they ran a special about people getting emails from their "Banks, credit cards, and the IRS" needing personal information. Long story short .....if you didn't iniate the emails then don't respond to them.

oddly, Bama, he thinks you live in Brazil. Did the US cede Alabama to Brazil?

Honestly, if that much money landed in my account, why in h*ll would I ever speak to that man again? I would automatically deny ever having heard of him. well, that is if I were dishonest...kinda like he is....

When I receive an e-mail from an address that I don't recognize, I first open the "preview pane" to view the message. If I still don't recognize the sender, I then close the preview pane, then delete the message without opening. That's also supposed to be a way to keep a virus out.

There is another like that where they claim you won this huge lottery in Spain that someone magically entered you in. I got an email from them 1st, then I got a letter in the mail, at my house, from them. That was a little creepy.
