battery light on

I hve a 2000 7.3 f250 crew cab. The battery light came on and stays on. I checked voltage at bat. and get 12.43 engine off. Each battery isolated. Engine running not increase in voltage. I will have alt. checked. Don't no where fuseable link would be. Bat terms clean and tight. i am new on this forum.

My experience tells me that light on points to altenator. I got stranded up in northern WI when mine went. Didn't pay attention to the batt light. Not like the old diesels, the new ones need constant juice.... Lesson learned!

Thanks Roger. I had it checked and you are right. I am replaceing the alt. today. Thanks Billyb

diode failure these are know for ,, I just replaced mine with an upgrade all new unit
