Did anyone see the Barrett-Jackson auto auction on the Speed channel over the holidays? There were some incredible vehicles (original condition, restored, custom, and modified). A few were sold from 1 - 4 MILLION dollars, some 300 - 320 thousand, and on down the line.
I never figured I would sit and watch an auction for longer than about 20 minutes, but they would show the vehicles that were coming up and I would wait to see what those sold for. Not your same ol' boring junk on TV, just my .02.

I've seen bits and pieces of the auctions from time to time.

Some of those rides are really SWEET!!

But then I see the prices they are selling for, realize I'll never be able to afford that kind of money for a car, get very depressed, and change the channel.

craig, that would be last years auction.

the one this year in from jan. 13-21st.

link

they do have some pretty nice stuff there.

alot is involved in getting a car to auction there too. you actually have to title the car over to barrett-jackson, and if it sells, barrett-jackson pays you.

from what i have heard, its a pain to deal with.

I saw bits of it. There was an 05 EX HD with a 6.0 PSD. The owner said it was 1 of 1. It had the HD badging but not the interior. It was stated that it was a prototype. One of the announcers read that it had a 4 speed trans. Apparently the owner doesn't know what trans comes with the 6.0. Here is the link. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=182353 Keith

This is just me thinking.........but I don't think I could pony up the title, and I don't know about that no reserve thing either. But hey it's not like I have a vehicle I am trying to sell. From watching the auction generally things seemed to sell pretty well, at least what made it on TV.
On this years car list there is a 1995 Chevy Custom 1500. The pictures didn't make it look like anything special and the engine compartment on my wifes Chevy is a heck of a lot cleaner.

How many of the vehicles on the new list do you suppose were bought last year and are being re-listed?

One thing I was surprised by when I was watching it the other night was how badly a Rolls Royces' value plummets. The one in particular that I saw was a mid 1980's model, it appeared to be in immaculate shape to my untrained eye and it sold for 30-35K.

A humorous aspect of the show is listening to the announcers say "Gee the new owner of this (put any car in here) got a heck of a bargain only paying 85K, 96K, 115K, 310K etc. etc. for this vehicle? BARGAIN!!!!!!!!! To me a bargain is picking up a 95 - 97 PSD 4X4, CC, all of the bell's and whistles (after market goodies) with only 30K miles for 2500.00. Now that is a bargain.:roflmao

a local lincoln/mercury dealer here in town, has been to the B-J auction before, and he also deals with antique vehicles.

he said it takes a very rare, or special car to make it to the auction block, especially on TV during the live coverage.

i do agree with ya too craig. it would be very hard to turn over the title to them on a potentially 6 figure car, and then wait for several months to get my money.

aint gonna happen.

i would love to go tho, my dad and i two way each other back & forth talkin about alot of those cars that he had in his earlier days as a car dealer.
