Can't find washers small enough to fit in the FPR and I don't have the dexterity to grind down something that small, so I was wondering if anyone has used a ball bearing, maybe 3/16"ish, under the spring to shim it up? Seems much easier, but not as adjustable if the pressure isn't desirable. My pressure is 55 right now, I'd like to get it to 70 as per the Wiki.
Thanks in advance,
Jesse

Yeah, the ball bearing trick works fine, sometimes with the bb you might get excessively high pressure though.

I ended up using #2 washers instead of the #4. They were much smaller and required less grinding. My fp is now 74, is that ok? I put about 50 miles on it and no leaks.
Thanks,

under the cheddar curtain
that is a little more than is desirable but not bad. i would give it a week or two and see if it settles down a little bit then pull one shim out and see what happens.

Jesse,

JMO but the important thing about the # 4 SS washers is: they are close in OD, to the ID of the brass sleave.. makeing a good seat for the spring. BUT.. if you had to grind the # 2's down some, yer prolly good to go.

I've replaced Ball Bearings & BB's on a few 7.3s due to >in-consistant< FP:dunno

Again "Just my Opinion" but 65 to 75 psi FP is where these 7.3s like to be. 70 psi being the best, Overall. Like others have said: Run it for awhile... It's a SOP thing... each 7.3 seems to be a bit different. Just watch for fuel leaks around the fuel fiter houseing/water drain valve and other fuel line fittings.
