Question,I've filled up with various batches of B20 over the last year and was curious is there a standard of sorts to the color/clarity it should be?
One time it had a greenish tint another was near clear and today sorta looked like B100 but crystal clear.

Here's a photo of 2 micron filtered WVO settled for about 7 months and on the right a sample of B20 I picked up today.

I don't think there's a real standard. The different colors may be actually be that you had more or less biodiesel, ULSD or LSD, or the feed stock for the BD.

I have a new BD source in Amarillo, it's actually Brownfield BD fuel that I use to buy from but they are wholesaling to an Amarillo company that is going to sell several different blends. Even B99! :sly

Another question comes to mind is the sample I have can it be tested to verify the amount of blend or is that abit out of the question?

Good question. Easiest way is if you had a liquid that would dilute one but not the other. For instance you can check biodiesel for unreacted vegoil by disolving it in methanol, then the oil settles out. Don't know what would work for a #2 and biodiesel blend tho.

I've never purchased B20 nor have I ever made biodiesel but the B100 or B99.9 I buy comes in different hues of yellow from pale yellow to a deep dark yellow, but always clear. The current batch is deep dark yellow.

I've seen #2 in shades of yellow, green and blue. So I guess the blended color has to do with the colors of both fuels.

Thanks Don,I'll have to do some additional reading on a way to maybe chemical test it:sweet

Richard you still purchasing from the same source for the different batch tint hues?

I may run to a Fort Worth Distributor in May to get a sample of their B20+ :)
