1/8 scale R/C model of a B-52 takeoff and crash
thing has 8 gas turbine motors running A1. outrigger wheels and all!
me thinks Tail_Gunner may have something to do this winter while uneployed...
after some googling-

Wingspan: 23'
Length: 23'
Speed:
Range:
Dry Weight: 297 lbs
Fueled Weight: 330lbs (inside the CAA 150kg limit)
Fuel Capacity: 22 litres Jet A1

"Commenting on the incident in the SCSA (South Cotswold Soaring Association) Newsletter, Phil Hayward refers to a report of a very similar looking crash of a full-size B-52 which states, "The B-52 in a steep turn at low airspeed loses roll control, resulting in a natural over-banking tendency. The small rudder authority is unable to keep the nose from dropping, nor can it pick up the lower wing. B-52s do not have conventional ailerons, but spoilers on the upper wing surface similar to the MU-2."
Phil then goes on to say, "I think you will also find the model did not have ailerons! It was using scale spoilers. The video seemed to show lack of response rather than stall. More like it ceased to fly and rolled over. Sad lesson to learn. Doubt he will repeat it. Good luck to him on the MK2 but I would add ailerons for the model .. " (Tony Baker, BMFA Public Relations Officer, says that Gordon is actually planning to build another B-52 for next year!)"
