Well I am back from the salvage yards and I found alot of what I wanted. However, 7 salvage yards and only 3 crew cab F-250/350 ( 2 at one place, 1 at another), and they were pretty well stripped. I got switches for the driver side door window controller since I destroyed mine somehow, found a factory Ford rubber crew cab mat(Internet 153.00, I paid 27.00 w/ tax), a gauge cover (Speedo, tach, etc...), a nice Ford zip up cover for the owners manual, insurance card, and business cards, a spare tire mount for the side of the bed (hate getting under the truck) and two 3rd brake lights. One going on my truck and the other on eBay. Anyone priced those things from the stealership??? Yikes. Total for the day........67.41. My wife doesn't know what shopping is!
My next trip I plan to get the electric fans, I know there is some disagreement out there, but I haven't heard of anyone one detonating an engine yet with the set up. Please let me know if there is somebody out there.
Now for the questions.
1) I seemed to recall hearing about a switch on the brake pedal assembly that when it goes out costs (ballpark) 800.00? Does anyone know what I am talking about? If so would you pick one up at the junkyard as a spare?
2) Any idea how to keep the 3rd brake light & bed lights from getting so hot that they melt the plastic and wiring? One employee at the junk yard said that almost all of our trucks he gets has that problem.
3) Does anyone out there want to get rid of their back seat cup holder? If so I am interested.
4) Between the 3 trucks I could walk away with a set of 4 Michelin XLT's. They all looked good, no indication of road hopping, uneven wear, and no signs of dry rotting. If I recall right the place said all tires $9.99. Would any of you pay the 40.00 some odd bucks for them? I am wary of doing it.
Have a good evening, off to tinker on the truck:thumbs

did any of them happen to have a good drivers door panel in gray?i need one for my 95 bad!!

if the tires are in good condition,no dry rot or wierd wear patterns id buy them in a heart beat for 40 bux.here some yards sell junk tires for 40 bux each.around here there are no crew cabs in the junk yards.usually when they get junked they are totally worn out, rotted to death and just crushed.:(

Which salvage yards did you go to? My son has a 95 F150 and is always looking for parts. Also, at the yards, did you see a good 40/20/40 front seat n any of those trucks? He needs a blue one.

Hey Rich,
I beleive I did see a gray driver side door panel, although I don't recall it's condition. I am headed back out this week, I can get it for you how good does it have to be? All I'd want for it is what I paid and whatever shipping costs. I can take a pic of the reciept so you can verify it. Just let me know.

ill get a picture of my panel today and post it tonight.its gotta be better than mine.mine is cracked at the top and the mounting for the switch panel is broke off so my window switches are just floating there till i hit a bump and they fall out.i also need the black plastic piece that holds the switches as that is broken on mine also.

the yards here have a ton of broncos-F350s but no crew cabs or diesels.so finding certain parts for my truck is hell at times

Tires, I'd get them if you need tires

hot 3rd brake light- replace incandecent bulbs with LED's that will eliminate the massive generation of heat. or replace front bumper with a cattle guard from a locomotive and quit using the brake pedal.

BJS,
I found the Burlington Northern Diesel engine salvage yard and after a little welding now have the cattle guard you suggested, however the front of the truck now sits a little low.:roflmao
