Anybody out there with an AutoEnginuity and an earlier 7.3 Superduty with the two connector plug accelerator pedal?

I'm wondering what values you get for "Accelerator Pedal Position - Percent" at idle and light acceleration.

Mine reads something like 11.38% at idle. Jody of DP-Tuner thinks I might have a bad "go-pedal", which might be possible since it's 275,000 miles old. But I think I'd feel better if I got some more input before I fork over the $$$ especially if mine checks out OK.

Thanks in advance.

I think he might be right... I scanned mine with my MODIS in movie mode over the weekend, and at idle, it was like 1-2%

That's intersting. Like I said, mine at idle was around 11.4%. When I accelerate slowly, it is damned hard to keep the pedal % below 20%. On level road, that little amount of pedal pressure won't get you above 45 mph.

What I don't understand, is if the pedal output is wrong, why does the throttle control of the engine seem OK?

Does it maybe have two output circuits maybe? One for the engine throttle and one for the transmission control input?

I've heard of guys with motors not revving up when they step on the go pedal and replacing the pedal assembly fixed it. But I've never heard of tranny shifting problems being traced to the accelerator pedal assembly if the speed control of the engine is ok.:dunno :dunno

If it is accelerating fine what are you trying to fix by replacing it? Do you think you are not getting to WOT?

I have an Autoenginuity and an old pedal so I will try to give it a look here in the near future.

I got a new pedal and the latest update for AutoEnginuity.

I've been working some PCM tuning issues with DP-Tuner. One was the 3rd to 4th upshift was not happening as soon as I wanted. We suspected it was a throttle pedal position sensor output for tranny shifting, I was getting a reading of about 11.5% at idle which didn't sound right. I got a new pedal and the reading is about 9%. But it didn't change anything. DP-Tuner is sending me a tweaked tune on a PCM, I should see it arrive Monday.

We'll see if the road test shows any difference.

Tail gunner how do you like the autoenginuty?? I tried it and could not get it to see my truck. I talked to tech support and got no help so I sent it back. Could I have been wrong??

Thanks , Mike

You've got to fiddle with it to get it to talk to the truck. Usually after I tell AutoEnginuity to connect, the SES light on the dash flashes on a couple of times, then comes on steady and the engine dies. Right away, I recycle the key and restart the engine. Then the AutoEnginuity starts to scan the PCM and detects the various readable parameters. From what I've been able to find out, that is some kind of glitch with the Powerstroke and there isn't much AutoEnginuity can do about it.

For some reason or another, certain parameter choices disappear or reappear from one version to the next. I was looking for "Accelerator Pedal Position - volts" (APP - volts) but it wasn't on the list to pick from on the current version I had. But I found out that "APP - volts" was included in a previous version of AutoEnginuity. After several inquiries with the company, I was told that "APP - volts" parameter wasn't available, only to see it appear with the next program revision/ update. But with that new revision, another parameter "Trans Gear Status - counts" which basically tells you what gear you are in, disappeared. (Insert the infamous missing shrugging smiley here)

I was using the AutoEnginuity to do some live data- logging to help DP-Tuner trouble shoot some idle tuning issues with my single shot injectors and tweak my tranny shifting more to my liking. Once I was done doing the data logging, I e-mailed the info to Jody. So it served its purpose there. It seems to do a good job at detecting and reading fault codes and running the various "key-on, engine off" and "engine running tests" like injector buzz, cylinder contribution and various sensor tests.

Overall, I'd give it a :sweet

There might be a computer setup issue or two also that may have been causing your problems. If you decide to give the AutoEnginuity a 2nd chance, let me know and I'll try to help you get it set up.
