Thanks PB,

I'll check'm out.

In a word ? The Interstates we >Have< Traveled ??
The condition of our Interstate Highway System is HORRIBLE.

Our Interstate Infrastructure is in DEEP KIM-CHI ('ol Navy saying for: trouble)

It doesn't need repair.. it needs REPLACING :eek:. In many states.. they're doing just that.... Rip'n it up and replacing the Whole highway structure..... Base Course up.
Many times, when we hit a Rest Stop, I crawl around and look for broken springs, and the like.

"Red Roads" ? are in real good condition, as compared.

As we head West again.. I'm taking as many of those as possible

I like running the red roads, there is a lot more to see and you can drive at your on pace. 80 from LA state line to Dallas is a good road. Also don't be afraid of the black roads in Texas.

Yes I agree the interstate system is currently a collection of roads that are failing, when they were built the expected life span put their useful life to end right around now. We have increased the weight and number of vehicles dramatically from the original projections which further shortened the lifespan of the roads. We did not plan to finance the replacement and upkeep when the roads were built and now we are at a point where we need to look at major replacement and upgrades to the infrastructure of this country (roads just being one part)

And yes I-75 that you just suffered on is horrendious, since I earned my driver's license in '95 I remember I-75 being under constant construction and some how it continues to this day.

AS has been mentioned state DOT sites will give you the traffic conditions and areas of road construction however I have yet to find anything regarding how pleasant the road is to drive down. There are some cities that run better traffic and construction listings than the DOT, like Jacksonville uses jax511.com or when in the local area 511 on all cell phones is supposed to provide traffic info.

I do work in the WDW complex time to time and at night and it's a pain trying to find things.
