Although he isn't in OH, Brian of Brian's Truck Shop in NW Arkansas is arguably the best tranny available. If you can make the trip to his shop, the price includes install. If you can't make the trip, he'll ship you one. How you get it installed is up to you.

FWIW, the trip is worth it, Brian and his Mrs are some of the nicest people around.

yeah, i know BTS is the best, but my truck is not worth a $4k+ transmission. i just need the trans freshened up so i can get a couple more years out of it. by then i'll be in a position to get a newer/cleaner truck.

I rebuild them all the time and never had a come back. I don’t know why people think there are only two 4r100 gods, these Transmissions are very simple and it’s all on how much you want to beef it up. It’s like a race motor there no end .Please don't take this the wrong way, in all do respect, it's not rocket science!! It's all about how much money you want to put in to it. Basic rebuild cost me $600 and a full rebuild will run me $1.500 just in parts (not) including the torque converter .And I get $500 just benching them and I go through every part including full tear down of the valve body .Clean inspect making sure every valve is completely free in movement .

If your truck is stock power wise then just about any trans shop can get it taken care of for you. If you want a bit better try to find shop that will rebuild the trans with the parts you provide then call up Racer X, Suncoast or Factory Tech and order up the pieces and parts, then pay to have someone else do it. Expect the parts with converter to be in the 1700 -2k range then add oh 700 (around 8 hours real time so I'd guess 10 book hours) or so for someone's labor for rebuilding, and then the removal and replacement of the trans and you've managed to get pretty darn close to the price of one from BTS or built from any of the other more well known transmission builders.

For a shipped to you trans Suncoast converters will be about $3600 + shipping. The big ticket items like transmissions are going to be one of the big factors in people choosing to get a new truck instead of replacing the existing one.

If you are going to do it right and expect it to last a while and you're not comfortable doing your own trans work then you honestly will need to break down and buy a good trans.

my truck is stock. the rust is the reason i am not going to throw a ton of money at a trans. i do want to upgrade the **** Ford TC that's in there though. i guess i'll look around locally for a good trans shop.

i have some bills i want to pay down before i get a newer truck. i have about $2000-$2500 to spend on trans work now.
