Buying a 2000 F350 Regular cab 7.3 with 180k on it.
Sold a 2004 F150 5.4 with 70k.
Will be a daily driver/tow vehicle for my service business.
Whats the thinking here?
Needed a higher capacity tow/ haul vehicle.
Didn't like the new generation of high tech diesels because of the complexity.
The new old F350 will need a rebuild of its zf 6 speed due to syncros failing
What would be a good proactive maintenance plan of things to attend to while the drive train is out?
Clutch, Slave cylinder, any other ideas.
Hoping this doesn't turn into the money pit of trucks...

I would definitely do the clutch and throw-up bearing. Make sure you don't have a dual mass flywheel. They give you problems with shifting and that might be one of the reasons for your tranny problems. You can replace the flywheel with a single mass (ordinary) flywheel.
