Ok so after whats happened to me today im ready to bite the
bullet...

Im interested in 2 things...what type anyone has and what
thoughts they have about it.

AND if anyones ever done this themselves....Ive done
all my own work & THINK im pretty handy (see my photo links...
thank god they didnt get all those amps under the rear seat)

Id like to go full boat, 2 way (paging remote/keyfob) w/ remote
start...can i do this myself ? are there any direct plug and plays
available ?

ill be reconsidering all my security (and removing as much stuff
from INSIDE the truck as possible)...ill be BOLTING the amps down
w/ security type fasteners (if not plain old nuts and bolts instead of
screws)...and im gonna build a FRONT cover for my amp/tray so that
it will be carpeted & completely outta sight...even when you LOOK
under the seat).

You can do it Bush. It is like anything else, you have got to plan out your alarm system before you install it. I did mine in my previous truck and it took about 6 hours and I had no idea of where to put things. Good luck.

Bush,we're going with the Viper 5900 Responder SST which is a full blown two way, with remote start, turbo timer and a list of other options.

DEI systems are only warranteed if installed by a DEI authorized dealer/installer.

I figure the payback from the 15% insurance premium discount will pay for itself within 1 year:sweet

I've got the Viper 791 XV, has everything you can put into alarm system, two way paging, remote start, remote w/ LCD screen, etc. A little pricey, but that coupled w/ the jimmi jammers, was worth it to me after my truck got hit as well.

we are on our second dei product. no issues and works like it should.
i did add a fuel pump disable switch somewhere in the truck. at least if they manage to get by the alram and the igniton stuff, it aint going to run far if it does manage to fire, and hopefully i will be there to inquire about there business before they get to much ripped out.
sorry to hear about your break in....also i have disabled the door locks at the key cylinder..... :sly

I dont remember which viper I had installed but I had it done at a local shop for about $450.00 and that was with the remote start. A word of advice dont go to a circut city or one of those big places most of them are not certified. My wife thought she would save some money and go ther with her focus and needless to say seven return trips and five alarms later I took it to my guys and thay had it fixed the first time and repaird alot of butcherd wireing. Take some time and reserch shops and you will get a good warenty on the instalation.

I pretty much know the shop, ive bought stuff from the guy before...
im just tryin to decide on the alarm at this point.

any of the vipers have "turbo" timers on em ? i wish to hell i could do
a side by side comparison.

and when they do the install ill be RIGHT there, its part of the deal that
im present (and helping)...i HATE crimp connections...ill solder all the
connections myself even if i have to pull it apart after they do it
the quick way.

robert ive disabled the door cylinder but i dont think that would stop
em from doing anything but messing up the key hole (like they already did,
and i think theyd just get pissed and f' up the door (which they didnt
THIS time).

can you pm me or email me don dot rumsey at yahoo dot com
id like to knwo more 'bout where you picked up the fuel pump wire..
