In a van down by the river...
My AIC is acting funny and maybe one of you can help figure out what's going on. My AIC displays my RPM's, and when I go through the button-pushing sequence to activate it (with the tranny in neutral and the parking brake on), the LED's by the buttons light up, I can select the RPM I want to set it at (usually at 1200), but when I push the oval "Ford" button to engage it, the LED by the RPM CONTROL or CHARGE PROTECT button flashes and nothing else happens. It's starting to cool off, so I'd like to be able to idle up at stops/warming up so not having a functional AIC is a bad thing. Could it be related in some way to the fact I've got a broken clockspring?

FWIW, the two plug connections (AIC to cable, cable to in-truck harness) are tight and clean...

when i select RPM, i wait a few seconds, then i select the RPM setting, i wait a few seconds, the i hit the oval button and it starts right up. i have found that if i get in big hurry, it doesn't work as well, so i slow down.

same thing if i select the CHARGE PROTECT.

maybe thats all it is, i don't know.
