times. I called my dealer of 30 years, to order some parts for our Windstar late Friday. He asked if I could call back on Monday cuz they were about to have an All Employee Meeting.... Looks like they are guna "Close the Doors".

Appearently, FOMOCO is "Down Sizing" and the (so called) Small Town, Smaller Dealers with low inventory/flooring.. are caught up it the deal.

They sell trucks by the truck load to the big ranchers, farmers and dairymen but the "Numbers", as compared to the Big Box, Rip off lots.. don't match up to Fords current economy driven.... financial program.. (his words)

There has been two dealers close their doors around here recently. One was a joint Ford & Dodge dealer going back at least 50 years.

The other was a GMC, Pontiac & Buick dealer, a family run place. But I think that one was bought out by another local GM dealer. I've seen the closed dealer's manager on commercials for the latter dealer.

But at any rate, shopping for the best deal just became a little harder with fewer places to shop.

It is sad that it has come to this, but it's been known for quite some time that all of the big 3 have too many dealerships. Hopefully the employee's affected by the closings can find work at one of the bigger stores. Ford closed, actually bought out 2 of the biggest, in sales, dealerships in Pittsburgh because they didn't like their locations. This was told to me by the owner of one of the closed dealerships.

Yeah, its definetly a sign of the times but if these automakers want to stay afloat then they need to do it by any means possible. #1 is lower your overhead and liabilities.

around me there are so many f'ing ford chevy dodge dealers, they really need to get rid of a few and make the others BIGGER! it sucks that it takes an economic crisis to make it happen.

We had a dodge dealer here close first of the year and the lot is still full of 06 and 07 cars and trucks. What really sucks is some of the mechanics still have there tools there and the banks and lawyers wont let them get there tools.

they must not want them that bad.....my co-workers and i have already discussed how we will go about getting our tools out if they lock our doors at work.

Starting to wonder if i should have purchased that extended warranty. Warranty isn't worth much if there is no Ford left to do the work. Parts may become a problem in the near future too.
