I recently purchased a 1999 international 4700 series truck with a 7.9 powerstroke. When I bought it (stole it very cheap) the seller said he thought it had a cracked ring in #5. It smokes white and has blow by.
Ive also been told that this is a characteristic of a bad wireing harness to the injectors whis is common or so I'm told.. Anyone have any ideas

Also I cannot seem to find a maintenance schedule for oil and filter , fuel etc as to when recomended changes are due.:thanks

T444E or Powerstroke ??

Yes it is a T444E but I was told that it is the same as a 7.3 Ford powerstroke. It's all new to me. I bought it for a project truck to fashion it after a International CXT (Internationaltrucks.com) I hope it turns out as cool as i hope. I feel so stupid.. I'm 48 yrs old and this is my first diesel and know virtually nothing about it.
:hail " Oh great guru of the noise maker ... help me if you can "

Well some things to be aware of... Does it Miss... White smoke... Moisture raw fuel... excessive blow by could be caused by several things... worst case scenario... you have Cavitatian infiltration... IE. hole in the cylinder walls caused by insufficient SCA's in your coolant.. If so .. you now own a boat anchor.. next possible bad case scenario, youve lost a cooling jet, this could have overheated a piston, causing it to crack, or break a ring..... now these are "Worst case" .... best case..... blown head gasket, stuck injector... crap fuel..... Lots of things to read up on and get educated.... Good luck and let us know how thing progress.
