99 f350 refuses to run lower than 1/4 tank of gas...

been this way a while, so i keep the tank full. if it gets lower than a quarter tank it runs rough for 5-10 miles worth of driving then dies.. and will not start till i get more diesel. Only think i can figure is an air leak.
fuel pickup leaking? maybe?
i have no idea, has anyone here had or heard of a similar problem?
it realy shrinks my tank and would be awsome if i could figure out what is going on.

How much fuel can you put into the tank when it quits? And how big is your tank? The preferred term is FUEL and NOT Gas. Gas and diesel trucks don't mix.

Assuming your gauge is OK, my bet is the pickup snout on the bottom of the tank pickup assembly is loose.
