I just got done changing out my turbo wheel, to a whicked wheel. Did a CCV Mod, a Zoodad Mod on Air box, and new gaskets on the up pipes to the turbo "Y".
I had 23psi of Boost before the Modifications, now I am lucky to get 16psi of Boost, but the truck runs great!
Is this Normal????

2001 F350 4X4, 7.3L, Delete-a-muffler exhaust, ccv mod, 60hp/180ft lbs Superchip, fuel tank mod, and HPOP crossover.

nope, not normal.

chances are you dont have something tight and its more than likely your up pipe gaskets. did you make sure to clean them up really well and get all the oil off both the boots and the up pipe? if theres any oil residue on there, you wont get a nice tight seal and you'll bleed boost off.

also, make sure that you didnt mess your wastegate up. did you take the wastegate off or leave it on? give that all a try and let us know how things are lookin!

also may want to check the Y where it is clamped to the turbo..if the centering pin did not line up you will loose exhaust PSI..when cold..start the truck up..feel around the cleamp with your hands..you should not feel any exhaust there...

Turbo Problem

I just wanted to let you guys know that the problem was the Exhaust Backpressure Actuator. Disconnected and wire it open and my boost was back, but I am leaking like a siv out of the Actuator hole in the Turbo Pedestal.

Should I get rid of this pedestal and go to the NON-EBPV Pedestal?

I hope you unplugged the EBPV sender on the pedestal..if you didn't..the bearing is starving for oil....could also be the cause of the oil leek..you can gut the pedestal tap the hole and plug it with a bolt..or just buy a non EBPV pedestal..if you want to gut it ill post back a more in depth how to for you....

sorry for posting so late guy's..i got a new turbo for my truck and I spaced this right out untill i got a PM this morning..

I gutted the pedestal just like in this vid only I use orings on the inside and out side of the bolt..i also used a locking nut on the inside to keep the bolt from loosening up..

on the exhaust outlet..I removed outlet from the turbo..you will see the EBPV flapper hooked to a rod with 2 rivets...grind the 2 rivets off so the flapper will fall off the rod..on the actuator end of the rod..you will see a small C clip holding the rod in place..pull the clip and the rod should slide right out..you may need to grind a little bit of the rod..some rods swell just a tad from the heat it sees..after you get the rod out..put in a 3/4 inch freeze plug..re install the outlet..make sure you unplug the EBPV switch from the front of the pedestal..this will not hurt any thing but it does give you a soft code on the PCM but no SES light will come on...my stock turbo is out right now..I just put in a ball bearing GTP38R..ill take some pix of the delete mod if you need some..
