7.3L Diesel down on power...

Hi, New to this forum....

I have a 2000 F250 superduty 7.3L diesel. Owned it since new, about 195k miles on it. Runs ok but seems to be down on power when towing. Looking to get a big 5th wheel trailer and want to get the truck ready for it.

How can you check the injectors and turbo at home to make sure it's all good?

thinking about a programer but want to get the truck right before I do that....

rjames. There are several way to check injectors. One is to use a Buzz Test. This requires a Scanner tool like AutoEnginuity® - OBD2 Scan Tool - Professional PC and PDA Diagnostics and they are not cheap. Do you have any add-on gauges, like boost and EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature)?

No I don't have any added gauges to monitor the turbo. I probably need to think about getting some to monitor what's going on when I'm towing. I used to have a diesel pusher motorhome and had them installed on that and they were helpful.

I guess i might try and find a local shop that can check my truck out. I saw a lot of stuff on here about the CPS, mines never been replaced, maybe it's bad?
