I'm going to send my chip off to Tony Wildman to have my TS chip re-burned. Is ther any reason why I should keep the stock setting?
comes in handy for when your bro-in-law borrows your truck, too..
flip it in stock, take the fob off & put it in your pocket....
Don't mess with the chip with the engine running or key on. I fried my pcm when I wiggled the chip on my 01 trying to fix a bad connection. I would think you could run into problems with connections if you pulled the chip to many times. A snap-on scan tool should give you your strategy or code. Stock is nice for very cold weather or slippery driving conditions but you being down south don't need that.
like Tailgunner said..you need the stock setting for diagnostic purposes..
and taking the chip off the unit does not revert it back to stock, it may even result in a no-start or other driveability problem.
I should have pulled my chip and sent it back to DP this week, as the truck is in the trans shop and had a no-start burned in it, too.
that would have given me
no start
stock
60 hp tow
80 hp econo[/QUOT
Guys take their chips off all the time. I have never heard of no start or any kind of issue from it. I'm not saying I disbelive you, but this is just the first I've heard of it. Doesn't the chip just overide the PCM for like incresed HPOP psi, fuel delivery, etc. And if you take an overide off anything it should go back to factory settings...if done properly.
I have been having issues with "no start" and even shutting off going down the road. One of ya'll told me CPS sensor. I went to a diesel shop the other day to had him check it out because the CPS on my truck right now is the replaced one from the recall almost a year ago. The guy was a DA. He asked my why I thought it was the cps, and I told him I talked to some diesel techs online. He said most of ya'll have probablly never even held a wrench. Asked me what kind of chip I have, I told him TS...he's never heard of it. And according to him Tony Wildman is a nobody because he's been working on powerstrokes for nine years and never heard of him. He is a GMC fan, and stated that the only one truck in his shop is a chevy and the rest have the blue oval. I was quick to point out that there are more psd on the road than duramax and cummins combined so it would make more since that there would be more powerstrokes in his shop. Needless to say I'm not going back there again.
