Hello all, I've been looking around on here for a little bit and I am in the market for a new/newer truck and I would like to hear what some of you have to say given the choice on an 06/07 6.0 or an 08 6.4, equally equiped with normal milage and average pricing.

Have a 05 the 6.0 has its share of issues and I have had plenty of down time in the shop- mine started heavy after 75 K at least the 6.0 don't have the new emision items added - best of all its paid for I can live with it. Knowing what I now know stay away. For the record does not have any tunes on it have stayed away until out of warentee- has been serviced by dealer-(bought the Ford service package) never pulled anything - so it has not been hammered.
My son has a Dodge- I don't like the truck- can not compare to The Ford look but the Cummins has the 6.0 beat hands down. He does not spend time at the shop as I have.
Just something to think about.
I have aways been a Ford guy- disapointed with the 6.0- it now has 86 k on it and it is my daily driver

I would go with the 6.0 - i use mine as a daily driver and love it 48,000mi and only issue i had was egr valve pluged up which i think was caused by me idling it too much. The 6.4 is a decent motor but i have heard of some issues blowing radiators and turbos coming apart. A guy i know from work traded his 6.0 in on a 6.4 and wishes he hadn't.

You need to hammer them every now and then to keep them running clean - excercises the turbo and egr valve - built to be run not babied

X2 It needs to get a workout ever now and then. I have 53,340 on mine and it's doing fine so far. Hope it last another 100,000 miles.:clap:

yeah I keep hearing 7.3 and the only major complaint from them is the trans but the newest truck I can get is an 03 with the 7.3. I really like some of the features of the newer trucks. Now fuel econ has got me interested as I am hearing conflicting reports. A particular 08 6.4 I am looking at has a claimed 20mpg highway(60mph) and 18 freeway(75mph) and about 16 in town.

customer of mine has a 6.4 and he's been pretty happy with it.
mileage is not quite as high as what's claimed, but when I asked him and expected him to say 10mpg, he reported more like 15
