which way is up?
i am in the middle of doing the same upgrade. i say middle because i have not had time to finish due to the weather, work, life and other projects.
the cooler is designed to go hose barb end down, not up. with the hoses going out the top, the cooler will act like a sump pit collecting anything in the fluid, eventually clogging.
look at the brackets on the cooler. the bottom has the tabs which are supposed to bear on the crossmember below. these tabs point to the rear of the truck.
the thing that has my stopped is a CLEAN and efficient route of the new rubber lines to mate up to the hardline connection.
on my truck, the return line to the tank is from the drivers side connection of the cooler.
the supply line to the cooler is the outlet from the radiator. this line goes to the passenger side of the trans cooler. problem is the length of the 3/8-1/2 coupler i am using is too long to fit into the sweep or bend, and the 1/2" line kinks and flattens. -mad
one route i have come up with is to sweep the lines OUTSIDE of the frame, where the front spring shackle is. I do not like it because the lines are now exposed.
the power steeing lines route this way on the drivers side to the PS cooler. thing is, i don;t mind risking damageing the PS lines, i can still drive the truck if the PS lines get cut.
so damaged trans cooler lines will pump the tranny dry and you will be dead on the road.
i am waiting on a few pics of the 6.0 trans cooler lines from one of our members to see how the 6.0 trucks lines go.
feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
