6.0 intercooler

I was just wondering how hard it is and what mods you need to do in order to install a 6.0 intercooler into a 7.3L.

I was running down the road the other day and just cruising and saw a dodge pooring on the smoke trying to blow by me. Well con't let that happen so I switched it to position 6 and layed into the power. Needless to say the doge never got by me and had to change lanes.

Back to why I started this while I was running at way above the speed limit(speedo was pinned on D) I looked over at the EGT's and it was reading 1500'. So I backed out of it but still had enough to stay ahead of the other guy. New it was time for a bigger IC but was wondering what the effort was to install it.

I used a 3x3x8, and a 3x3.25x8 hose for pipe to cooler connection, and hump hoses on the other end. All from DPP. Your auto will have some tranny cooler line issues I think unless you upgrade to 6.o tranny cooler.

Pull the upper radiator support swap ICs. Fairly easy.

I noticed maybe 100 better egts across the board. Tow program is completely manageble doing 750-800 on flat ground in OD grossing 23k.

Like Rooster sez, It's purdy strait forward deal. I did mine solo, took me about 4 hours.. with lotsa breaks.

Pull the grill

Pull the Rad. support

Pull all the boots

lift the stock'r out

Do what needs to be done about the tranny cooler

Do the above in reverse.

Mines a 6 spd so I didnt have tranny cooler issues but, It Ain't That Hard.

I saw 100+* drop in EGTs too. 25-50 or less towing.

I also upgraded my tranny cooler. I did that upgrade before it became widely known that the 6.0 tranny cooler would work also. The 6.0 tranny cooler is even larger than the V-8/V-10 that I used.
