I'm thinking of putting a 6.0 intercooler in my 7.3. Supposedly they bolt right in with only having to use a transition connector boot to adapt the 7.3 tubes to the 6.0 intercooler.

My question is this: Was more than one intercooler used for the 6.0 over it's production run? Or was the same one used the entire time? If there was more than one, was a particular one better than the others?

Thanks

ya hey der!

yes, the 6.0 will bolt in. the biggest difference is the 6.0 IC has reinforced plastic endcaps where the 7.3 has aluminum castings.

you are right, there were some that had 3.25" inlets and 3" outlets, and some had 3.25" inlet and outlet. i do not think that the part numbers are different.

aftermarket hoses will make up the difference. the one that comes to mind is the maker of the turbo air guide thingy. he had both kinds last i looked.
