5.6k mod???

ok. if i was to use a 5.6k resistor instead of the 10k resistor do y'all think it would be too much on the stock hpop and set the cel? i was told by a buddy that when he tried it on his the truck ran like crap. i did it to a '99 7.3L and it was awesome!!! i like the lope idle it gave the motor and i want to do it to mine, just don't know if it's worth trying or not. thanks guys

Well...the good thing about these kinds of mods it their easy to take back out. If you DO set a CEL, just re-start and it's gone....no biggy.

I *think* I've got a 1K installed in my truck now. It works good. I can set the CEL if I get on it in 5th, and floor it. Funny, though, if I start from a dead start (like racing), it won't set it..I don't know if the increased RPMs on the other gears helps the HPO on the top end or not.

I do have the three diode setup so that my idle isn't rough, so I can't say if it'd run at all without that..

I have one in mine right now. Doesn't mean it will work right in your truck though. Some handle the 5.6, some can't handle the 10k.

I don't think the stock injectors can possibly use all the oil the hpop can put out, chip or not. I think the pcm just doesn't agree with the numbers with the 5.6k always.

Like was said I can through one pretty easy in 5th, but I do have stage 1's too.

Bottom line is this a pack of resistor at radio shack is a buck and some change so you're not out much...

well i guess this would be a good way to see what kind of shape my hpop is in with it having 245,000 miles on it. i will put the 5.6k resistor in and see what happens. thanks guys

well i tried the 5.6k yesterday and at first it tried to die. don't worry i had it in the correct wires. then it went ahead and idled up for me. the only difference i noticed was a little more low end, little more smoke, spun tires in 3rd, more throttle response, and a rougher idle. it does have a bit more power than the 10k and i haven't set the CEL yet and i've had it at full throttle all the way up to 75. all in all i like it more than the 10k although i'm probably using up more diesel through the stacks. :burnit
