hello boys. i was wondering why my 2000 f250 has an auto switch on the dash and manuel locking hubs. i had a mechanic tell me that when you are in auto mode, it is only in 4x4 when you are on the gas..goin up hill etc. and when you are coasting or going down hill(off the gas) it is kicked out of 4x4. verses when you lock the hubs it s in all the time. help me please. any takers?

hey stroke. thanks for the reply. so then what is the point of having both options? is it just a creature comfort?

I have an IH scout that has "lock-o-matic" hubs that works that way, but not certain about the ford yet.
