Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is a good place to look for a used one if you're looking for a relatively cheap answer but in my opinion you'll get just as good if not better for the cheapest rebuild from aamco or other cheap trans shop.

If you want a good built transmission that if properly cooled (factory is inadequate) will last much longer than your stocker then visit any of the following

Brian's truck shop
John Woods
Suncoast
Racer X
Factory Tech

My first suggestion is to spend the $50 or so to get a local shop to confirm the transmission diagnosis before you spend that kind of money.

I would say it depends on what you do with your truck. If you are planning on plowing snow, towing heavy, or adding a bunch of power I would go with a fully built transmission from one of the sources previouly mentioned. If you occaisionally tow/daily drive a good rebuild from a local shop with a triple disk torque converter, sonnax valve and shift kit will do. You can also upgrade the entire valve body if you want. I would also add a larger aftermarket or late model cooler as well.
