Where can I find one of these for my F250 SD?? I have somebody to put it on for me--he says there's not much to it. Don't know since I'm not mechanically inclined. Thanks for any advice. :D

You didnt tell us what year your truck is but this part JUST failed on my truck, I can get it through NAPA for 139.00 + 27.50 core. I ran the PN# for a 4R100 (2002 MY and below) and its the same. NAPA Link

Oh yeah.... Ford wanted 515.00 for the motor and probably another 100+ to install it. There are two plugs on it and three bolts that you can remove with a 10mm box end wrench. I could have the old one out and new one in in under 10 minutes.

My truck is a 2001 PS. I did go to the Ford dealer and total amount was $815.00--they really sock it to ya. I figured maybe I could buy the motor myself and have it put in. If it's not too difficult I just might be able to do it myself. I do know how to use a wrench.....:sweet

it is not really that hard to change. should take maybe 30 minutes tops, but be careful removing the bolts, they have a way of breaking if they get corroded(aluminum case and steal bolts)your truck should be new enough that you shouldn`t have to worry about that....hope this helps....

if you do it yourself, try hitting the bolts with a hammer or hammer and a punch. this will help free up bolts if they are stuck a little....

Thanks a lot everyone for the replies---a VERY BIG help!!!! There is a NAPA dealer about 1.5 mi. away from me; called and the part will be here tomorrow. Will probably try to put it on this weekend but I will make sure I have somebody standing by guiding me. This will save a lot of bucks........:thumbs

I just bolted my reman shift motor on...... gots 4wd again!

Anybody know if this is a common failure on the Super Duty? My local NAPA had two of them IN STOCK. I checked on Autozone's website and Checkers website and they both carry this item as well.

I know we went through two of them on our Excursion in 90,000 miles and I assume it is the same t-case and shift motor. Didn't have many other problems so I would have to think that this is a common problem. The X was shifted in and out of 4x4 several times a day all winter long so it may depend on how much you use it.
