Planning to get new rubber on the dually before snow, putting 235/85's on the rear (dually) and had the thought to put 265/75's on the front. The 265's are only 0.3 shorter than the 235's, so the question is will they be OK on 6" wide rims, the charts say 7" minimum. The reason I am considering this is mainly to get a little softer ride on the front, and well maybe too because the bigger the tires the better.:D

more drag & less fuel economy.

and if you live in the snow belt, less downpressure pushinng the tire through to the pavement.

just buy the 235/85's

I tried running a 265/75R16 on a 6.5" rim, and had bad tyre wear problems. I would strongly suggest staying away from a 265 for a 6" rim.

If it's ride harshness that you are concerned about, you could always drop from a load range E down to a load range D tyre (assuming you don't rotate them). A load range D tyre should be a bit softer in the same size, and since it's a front tyre, you can afford to have a slightly lighter duty tyre on the truck.

ok

I think I'll stick with the 235's all around.
Just another one of those ideas :D
I'm gonna put a set of Toyo M55's on when the snow flies:freezing
