ok i just changed all 8 injectors with brand new ones.(thought that was the problem why it was smoking) put new glow plugs in it and everything sarted it up and drove it around for about an hour and guess what i still have the same problem. smoking light blue smoke out the tail paipe at low rmps or idle. once i get going over bout 35 mph the smoke goes away and runs fine. it smokes the worst when i start it the first thing in the morning smokes a whole lot of blue smoke!if i run it hard above 2500 rmp for a minute and then slow down it seems to take it a couple minutes before it starts smoking again. any more things i need to check?

it deffinatley smells like burn oil out the exaust.

yes it runs fine, it is a little hard to start but not bad 3 seconds at the most to get it running. i did the screw the cap off the oil fill and it has blowby but nothin i would concider bad. i changed the fuel filter and the oil today the new oil deffinatly helped it in the smoking department it does not smoke as much but still smokes. also the exaust is not wet with oil at the tailpipe but it blows enough smoke you would think it would. what is your take on what i should do?

rebuild kit?

what do you guys recomend as far as rebuilding goes? just a new ring job if the cylinder walls are fine?where do you find this? could it be a blown head gasket? is it realy common for rings to go out on a 7.3 with 210,000 miles on it? or is more than likely somthing else like burnt valves or somthing? any troubleshooting technices would be awppreciated also! thanks for the good advice on here also.

I would look at the heads because they are a lot less money and very easy to get at. Valve train would be the first palce I would look. Guides and seals. Rings should not be gone at 210,000 miles, unless it was run in a very dirty setting.

On thinking about your problem, I would not take apart the engine until you look at the turbocharger. It has oil to keep it spinning freely and that could be your problem. Check for excessive play in the turbo shaft and end play. There are a few seals in the turbo shaft that may be leaking oil.

X2 fer shur.. What Dave sez.

I was guna jump in here and say the same thing. I would either replace the turbo or rebuild it <before> jump'n in to an Engine Rebuild.

can i run the engine with the turbo diconected? as in take off the turbo cool side of the piping out of the intercooler ? and try to run it like that just to see if thats the problem? pr how about just blocking off the oil line to the turbo for a couple minutes to see if that stops the smoking? any ideas will be helpfull? i didnt think these turbos were oil cooled?

Never heard of that method of testing. Any blocking of the oil supply would Fry the bushing, in my opinion, PDQ. The shaft and it's bushing are Lubrication/Temperature Critical. Turbo shaft End play and wobble is the key. I don't know the spec's but I'm sure someone on here does.. or check with Ford, IH or Garrett. There are also some VERY "tuned in" SDD Site Vendors that might hook you up with some testing procedures too.

I'm still think'n TURBO tho....
