I have been having a problem with my tranny. It doesn't happen all the time but recently it will occassionaly not shift into overdrive. It can be operating normally, shifting into overdrive, and I can stop at a store for a few minutes and when I get back on the road it will not shift into overdrive. I cannot get the override switch on the sterring column shift selector to shift into or out of overdrive. My wife talk to a transmission shop and they told her I needed to have the tranny rebuilt.

A couple of years ago I was stopped a store getting fuel and when I got back in the truck it would not go forward, however it would go in reverse. At that time I had the tranny replaced with a new one. The original went out at 105,000 miles.

The current tranny has 115,000 miles and I want to make sure that before I spend a bunch of money that the problem is really as they say it is. Does anyone have any thoughts to help me out? I was wondering if there are shift sensors or something similar in the transmission that could cause this problem. I do not know anyone in the transmission business that I can really trust to shoot straight with me and not just say I need to rebuild the transmission. If I need to rebuild it, that is what I will do. I want to make sure that is the right answer to my problem.

Shorty Bang, welcome to SSD.com. Sorry to hear about your tranny going out so soon after having one put in only 10k miles ago. You don't say where you are from, so be carfull where you get it rebuilt or replaced at.
So many shops today are using parts from China to rebuild with. They will not stand behind there work & labor.
Give this man a call and tell him what your truck is doing. He is very truthfull and backs up his work.
