I'm upgrading to a 200 amp alternator and have a wiring question. My stock alternator has the charging wire pass through a solenoid on the inside of passenger's fender then to the passenger side battery. When I upgrade they want me to use an additional #4 gauge charging wire connected from the alternator directly to the battery AND want me to leave the stock wiring in place through the solenoid. Does this make sense? :dunno

Yes it does. They are just running an additional wire in parallel, essentually, due to the additional current output of the alternator. They both go from the alternator to the batteries, and that is what counts.
