I continue to find out that my 1999.5 truck has a lot of early 1999 parts on it.

Truck is badged as a 99.5......has the 99.5 air box and turbo yet apparently has the early 99 suspension. It is a 2/99 build date and I guess they used parts from either side of the cut off date.

My latest dilemma manifested itself when I tried to buy track bar bushings. 4 Wheel parts sold me the 4.178G bushings(20mm) which I found to be too big. 4-Wheel Parts called Energy Suspension and were told that they were aware of the problem but did not sell the 15.5mm bushings for my truck.

I called NAPA, Autozone, Oreilly's, Pepboys and none had a bushing kit or track bar that would fit. My calls and emails to a reputable on-line Ford parts house were not returned so I bit the bullet and bought a stock track bar from a Ford dealer.

Here are some pics.........

IIRC-- the 12/6/98 date was when they changed engine & powertrain stuff changing trucks into 99.5's.

It wasn't until sometime in March 99 when they changed the front bearing hubs, rotors, track bars and such.

If you look at your mfr date of 2/99, you'll find it falls between those dates.

Yeap, for some reason I thought they change it all at the same time, I forgot about that.

I did know 03/99 was when they changed the suspension.

Lance's truck is a 02/99 build.

Finding brake rotors for it was a nightmare............gave three different stores my build date..........they were either too large diameter or the wrong offset. :dizzy

Finally got a counter guy that pulled all possible rotors off the shelf for comparison. The one that finally matched said it was for a DRW truck. I have no idea what that has to do with the front rotors but it worked.

Think I got a Johnny Cash truck....... ;)

does that mean that Tbar has a rare truck and it could fetch a price in the high 5 figures at Barret-Jackson?

If it does, I'll be next in line. 2/99 build date. And as was said, what a PIA to buy brakes for!
