so in the past few mornings when i go to drive my truck it wants to spit and sputter and even cut off until it warms up. once warm it seems to do fine. the truck had a chip in it and was boosting only 15lbs. tonight, i removed the chip and installed my superchips programmer and set it to performance. still only boosted 15lbs and the check engine light came on and the truck didn't want to accept throttle when in drive. after dinner, let the truck sit for a few hours and then came out to go somewhere and it just kept cutting off. ended up having to tow it home. it will start and rev good while in park or neutral, but when in any gear, it runs like **** and cuts off. while waiting on the tow truck i deprogrammed the truck back to stock and it didn't help. also, the truck has a new fuel filter and cam position sensor

it would stumble and die. this morning i planned to change the oil, and before i did so i checked it. it didn't even register oil on the dipstick. it ended up having about 5 quarts in there but now she has 15. i was hoping that would be my problem but now it won't even start.

There ya go. These things are designed to "Shut Down" if the oil level gets to low.

Try dis-connecting >BOTH< batteries for about 30 minutes. That should erase any Low oil level codes, set in the PCMs Erasable Memory.

Yer next issue will be: WHERE did the 9+ quarts of Oil go.. and why.

i just have the feeling that somebody changed the oil and didn't finish filling it because the filter looked fresh.

What on these motors could eat oil like that?:dunno

The bearings & seals went on my turbo about a year ago. It was blowing oil from the turbo bearings and right out the tail-pipe. But the tell-tale sign (besides the turbo noise) was the thick white cloud that followed me everywhere I went.

You can loose a lot of oil in a hurry that way.

A new D66 from Bean's fixed that little problem. :D

With oil that low, it's possible the reservoir for the HPOP is low. If there's no oil in there for the HPOP, the engine won't start. Take the little plug out of the HPOP cover and see if it's full. If not, fill it up and try it her again.
