01-hard start

If i try to start my 01 f350 after it has sat overnight on first cycle it wont start and loads up on fuel and blows white smoke. If i cycle 2-3 times before cranking it fires right up. Takes quite awhile to warm up and get going-longer than our 00 f250. ONce up and going it seems to run fine and pulls well but seems like slight miss/some power loss (not a huge amount but the f250 pulls same load a bit better than the dually).
2nd question is the overdrive button doesnt work. was intermittent-sometimes would go on when pushed, sometimes not. Then it wouldnt at all in drive, but would engage in park. Now it just engages sometimes. I checked all the wiring and its hot and connected where it needs to be-and I compared that wiring harness (in the column) to my f250 which works fine. The actual od button was replaced. Now the cruise seems affected too.

First off, Welcome o SDD.com. There are a lot of good folks here with a lot of good info for the asking.

The first issue would probably be the GPR (Glow Plug Relay). That would cause the issue of hard starting and Blue/White smoke. I am sure someone else will pop in here with how to check it.

The second issue songs lick you have a poblem inside the wire harness inside the sering column. Sometimes they take a good beating from moving the tilt whell up and down for a few years. that would be the first place I would check.
