Question What did you do to your truck today?

Installed sway bar end links with new bushings. What a PITA. I don't have a press so I had to get creative with a drill press, hole saw, hacksaw and cold chisel. Also ordered a new trans cooler (new 6.0), so much for saving for bigger oil this month. Since the truck is down I pulled the...

    00 front clunking

There is a bar that runs parallel behind the front axle. It makes a 90 degree bend at the outer ends towards the rear of the truck. At each end of the sway bar is an end link that attaches the sway bar to the truck's frame. Rear sway bar is mounted on the front of the rear axle. The...

    Retractable Air Hose Reel Installation

Best part of onboard air is the look you get pull out the air hose and plug it into your bumper. I was getting fuel a few weeks ago and a snowbird had a low trailer tire. He was waiting for a pump with an air hose so I took care of him. That led to a whole conversation about how I built my...

Question What did you do to your truck today?

I removed my front sway bar end links to see if they were the cause of the "thud" under the floor boards. While under there I found that I have an oil leak and transmission cooler leak that were not there 1000 miles ago. At least I now know the end links were making the noise.

    which chainsaw?

You can find used Stihl and Husqvarna at most saw shops. You should be able to save quite a bit by buying a used saw. Look it over well and ask to run it. Now if you are doing lots of saw work (daily) go new.

    corian countertops

You can use a hole saw. Make sure it is very sharp. It is highly recommended that you apply tape over the surface to be cut to avoid chipping. You can also get a solid surface blade for a jigsaw but it sounds like a pretty small diameter hole. Drill speed should be moderate. You want to...

    Brakes!!

I went with frozen rotors. They are also slotted. It never hurts to take the calipers apart and lube them frequently. As mentioned previously, any rotor will warp if over worked.

    steering stabilizer

I am running the Skyjacker dual kit. They don't hang down any further than the stocker. They are powder coated white. You can always rough them up and rattle can them to match your shocks.

Help Needed $1000 to Improve Towing!

Once you get the power stuff done look into some airbags in the rear. I also installed the helwig sway bars. The combination made a noticeable difference loaded and unloaded.

    rant Looking for answers!

I just did a search on autotrader.com and it came back with 244 results using "unlimited" distance. Some are 6 ohs and some have over 140k on them but there are trucks out there. I would look for a southern truck that old and avoid the salt issues you get with northern trucks.

    Explorer causing locking up

While surfing using internet explorer my computer will seem to lock up. I am unable to click on anything and loading a new page will take much longer than normal. My connection seems fine and I do not have this issue on my desktop. Any ideas or downloads to fix this? Scott

    Help Needed pulling in overdrive

Like stated above: tow in OD. I will lock out OD if the truck down shifts on a grade on its own. Most of the time I will down shift it myself in order to build rpm/boost and drop the egts. IIRC the Tugger and the Sonnax do different things. Have you had your trailer weighed? 9k sounds a...

    Left turn thuunk

No problems but the thunk has gotten louder and occurs more often. I am pretty sure that it is the sway bar end links. I can feel the thunk under my left foot while driving and the wife can feel in under her right foot on the passenger side. It has been happening on rough roads, expansion...

    Still wandering

Yes you can adjust it yourself but you can't get carried away. Post #6 has a link. Click on it and take a look at BigJoe's post regarding adjusting the steering box.

    Left turn thuunk

We are headed South tomorrow morning. During the warm spell the noise went away. Will only make right turns until temps are above 35 degrees.

    Left turn thuunk

I am an hour South of Buffalo, NY. Formerly frozen is correct. 60 degrees the day after Christmas kind of kills the frozen. I am starting to think that it is the sway bar ends. I have access to a shop but I am going to wait until we get back to GA.

    Left turn thuunk

I must have been something frozen under the truck. I didn't hear it at all yesterday and it was in the upper 50s with rain.

    Still wandering

I fixed mine by adjusting the pre-load a few weeks ago. I never thought to check the new box but when I did it was a turn and a half off. Thanks Ken.

    Left turn thuunk

Ball joints are new, both hubs are unlocked and I can turn the U-joints. It is sounding more like it is in the suspension. We have more driving to do todat so I'll try to narrow it down.

    Left turn thuunk

Truck is making a thunk sound when turning left. I think it may be something in the suspension but I am not sure. Steering is smooth while driving and stationary. I am currently in the cold North for the holidays. Let me know what you guys think.

Have a truck that starts and dies

Like Mike said, we need more info about your truck. 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, mods, year, have you replaced the CPS with the new design (CPS recall), when was the last time you changed the fuel filter, how many miles on truck. Folks here have the answers, they just need to know what you are driving. Scott
