    new 2011 f350

3.73 are not available. 3.55 is the new 3.73. There are plenty of guys towing with the 3.31 gearing with no issues. If you are going to be pulling the hills go with the 3.55. I have the 3.55 and my truck will shift through 3rd when crossing an intersection from a stop. First gear is...

    new 2011 f350

Different springs and I think you get the 3:55 rear end. Same axles, brakes, and transmission. Nothing a set of air bags can't make up for.

    Preparing for winter!

I would walk. After a week of hard starts and only driving a short distance you aren't going to fully recharge the batteries. You don't need a generator. When I went snowmobiling in NY temperatures never went above 0 and lows were in the -20's for the entire week. Truck (2000 7.3) was...

    Cool vid of tuned 6.7

It will interesting to see what a DPF delete does. These trucks are so much more efficient than the non-urea DPF trucks. As far as longevity, I think we are still going to have the same issues with EGRs/turbo and eventually the DPF. I am going to try to get 15-20K on mine before tuning it...

    400/800 Reflash

New tires are here. 35x12.50R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Probably won't go on the truck until Feb since I won't be driving the truck much until then and I don't have time to put a leveling kit on right now. Plans are a Ready Lift Stage 3TP 2.5" leveling kit and some black or black/machined...

    400/800 Reflash

Update: While the truck was getting reflashed I walked across the street to the tire and wheel store. Got an estimate. Guess where that estimate ended up? That's right, in the laundry. She found it while checking pockets.

    400/800 Reflash

My wife drove it last night (I had a FEW brews). She had the following question: What's this flashing light when I take off? Me: That's the traction control. I told her bigger tires would fix it. I don't think she is buying it.

    Finally!

I have seen 20-21 while driving. Once I got off the 4 lane it dropped to 18-19. The "lie-o-meter" is always within .2 mpg (if not dead on) of hand calculated. In town I am seeing 16. These calculation are all before the re-flash and AFe intake. I have 3.55 gears.

    400/800 Reflash

Got the PCM reflash done today. Low end torque is up. Trans shifting is also better. Took about 45 minutes. Long enough to test drive a new Taurus SHO. WOW. No way I can afford it but it is a nice car. Oh, and yes, it is fast.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Went from purring kitten to purring lion maybe only a tigger. Definitely has a deeper sound. A little more throtle response as well. Hope to get the 400/800 reflash this week.

Need a "switched" 12 volt wire

I'll try to remember to look in the morning. I couldn't find a key on wire. I used a wire that is energized when the key is in the ignition.

    Holy hotrods!

Victim? I have a hard time with the use of "Victim" in this case unless the investigation finds other factors. The bridge didn't even look like it was hit. Speed was not a factor. Lack of speed was. If he would have had more he may have cleared the bridge.

    Question free spin bearing assemblies

I ran the Solid Axle Free Spyn kit on my 2000. Gained about 1mpg. If you have auto hubs they will go away. Easy install as well. Like mentioned earlier, the cost will buy a few unit bearings.

    steering stabilizer

Ford Steering Stabilizers I ran a dual set-up on my 2000. If you don't like the color you can always rough them up and rattle can them.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Started smoking... Marker lights and 3rd brake light. Got the mirror markers installed. Roof light and 3rd brake light still need to be buffed once the clear coat dries.

    Break-in Procedure

The owner's manual and Powerstroke Supplement contradict each other. One says wait 500 miles before towing and the other says 1000 miles. Avoid constand speeds for first 500 miles. Mine had 800 miles on it and I was pulling hay wagons. A little over 2000 when I pulled my trailer from...
