    Plant drive kit install

That vent is connected to your rollover-valve..It's got a "plug" in there, but it's not really a plug. It allows airflow, but keeps debris out of there. When you put your tank up, make sure you've got it out of the way. I pinched it and it gave me hell until I got it fixed.. Got any pics?

You've got it. I don't think you HAVE to line up the holes, it doesn't fit tight enough to restrict flow...it just goes around the outside of the slug...

battery acts dead, but its not

I'd have your batteries load tested...they could have enough voltage, but could not work under load. Usually though, when my truck acts like that, it's the starter...

I was just wondering if you'd had a chance to start....good luck!

    Why increas the idle speed?

In general, I can think of two good reasons. First, if it's cold outside and you want to heat up your cab, your engine won't get warm enough just idling normally. Second and probably most importantly, it would allow you to use high-power electrical equipment. Winches, worklights, etc draw a...

The dash indicator is not good for telling the actual temp of your system. I thought I had a problem, too, but after I got a real temp guage, I quickly learned that the dash doesn't really tell you anything. I can be where you are on the dash, but be anywhere from 180 - 220 on the actual temp...

    Shifting without the clutch???

I thought the ZF6 had a common grind in the tranny due to some gears around the 750 RPM mark....can anyone confirm that? Is that what you're hearing?

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

OK..update... I went and checked my flywheel. Tell me if I'm looking at this right. At the engine, there's a part of the flywheel, it's got some spring attached to it, and there's another piece that the pressure plate get's bolted into. I'm assuming that these are the two masses of the...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

I still haven't closed my case yet by checking my clearance on the FW.... I had replaced the CPS a few months ago, so I went ahead & tried a new one (especially since I didn't have a spare -- yet), and it didn't work for me.

Whatever happened to Diesel of the Month?

True, but wouldn't DOTM be picked based on actual votes? I mean, sure, if ol' Ed won the million bucks every time, you'd have to wonder, but with this, there's actual voting records that show who got how many votes, and I think from who, right? Also, I don't think you should have those...

Oh...Also, I ran my lines on the passenger side, so I used more fuel line, but less coolant that if you're going to run them on the drivers side...

    Plant drive kit install

Ouch... Here's what I'd do. It'll get you pretty darn close. Go get some aqaurium hose (heck, string would even work)....and mock up the lines you're going to run. Then, just buy a few feet extra. It's a bunch of work, I know, but when your line costs are like that, it could be a several...

    Plant drive kit install

I bought 50 foot of coolant hose and about 75 foot of fuel line. I had quite a bit of extra. If you wanted to do a quick gauge so you don't have a lot of waste, you could take the length of your truck, add the width, then multiply by two -- that'd give you enough for the coolant lines. Double...

    bio question

You don't need a special filter, but carrying a spare should your become clogged is a good idea. Pump prices for bio tend to be all over the board....but generally speaking, B100 will be a bit more expensive than regular diesel. I'm not near a pump, so I can't speak for how the market is right...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

My worst fears have come true.... Got everything put back together, everything went in fine. BUT -- the problem is still there. When it first started up, it sounded pretty good, but got worse from there. What does the DMFW sound like when it's going out? I can hear a sound, kind of...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

I tore into the rest of this last night. I've got two bad pigtails going into the gasket (those buggers are hard to find -- ended up getting the repair kit from Ford, and pins (no wires) from IH. I've got one bad gasket. I've got one bad UVC harness that was burnt, and one that was bad...

You may want to put your FPHE before the Pollack valve. Depending on what you're desired effect is, but with the order you've got listed above, you'll be heating both fuels via the FPHE (because it's after the pollack valve). Since you've got a cooler climate, you may want to do that...

Help Needed Vent Tubes & Pit Bulls Dont Mix

Yes, it could be part of the fuel tank vent. There's a large rubber grommet with the rollover valve inserted into the top of the tank. That hose runs from the valve to a point on the frame, (mine was clipped with that metal clip on it.)

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

I may do that...got the GPs when they were on sale at Autozone, so I've got the parts. I inspected the plugs on the drivers side, they look perfect, that's the only reason I was just going to let sleeping dogs lie and not do them....

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

Here's what I've found so far. Both connectors into the VC gasket on the passenger side are melting. Back one seems to be melted on both sides, the front one is melting on the rear-most side of the connector. I unplugged the front one and started the truck, it didn't seem very much worse than...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

Well -- I am noticing some burnt wire smell -- ever since I put my new Stancor relay in (long time ago). If it is the UVC harness, is it usually burn out on the gasket itself, or the harness that goes under the VC? (Or does it happen equally either way?) I know I've seen some pinouts...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

I'll go smell here after a bit. Fuel filter should be easy to test -- I've got two (one veg oil and one regular diesel). I noticed it on regular diesel, I'll switch to veg and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, I'll replace that filter and see what we get. The one that's on there...

Rough Idle - Injectors, Harness, Or...?

Just started having a very rough idle today. Sounds like it's running on 6 cylinders. My truck has a bit over 292K on it, still with original injectors & harnesses. I've thought for a long while I should rebuild the injectors, but this has me wondering what I should do next to figure out...

    bio question

Since you say you didn't wash it, I'd lean towards that being the culprit. Washing is *very* important. If it was me, I'd siphon the tank dry (maybe even drop it and wash it out). The glycerine that's in there will cause lots of clogged filters if you don't get it out. Take the bio you get...
