    GP relay/alternator?

It IS normal for the voltage to be low for approximately 2 minutes after you turn the key. It's not normal for the the voltage to be normal for 40 minutes, then all of a sudden go back down like the GPs are energized.

    New to the forum

The 97 is a DI. The IDI's stopped in 94 i believe. Are you purchasing from a dealer or individual? An OASIS report (the dealers version of the CARFAX) lists visits to the dealership and will show lots more information than a CARFAX report will. Do you have any idea as to the maintenance...

    Power steering leak

BEst I remember, there is not an o-ring on that hose. I have had a couple of hoses break at that connection, though...I think it's probably a design flaw. Be sure to get a new hose with a lifetime warranty...at least you won't have to pay for the part every time...

Engine dying(not cps) and lack of power..help!

If the SES light goes off and back on, it may be an overboost or running out of HPO (or could be ICP error, too) ...codes will tell for sure. Do you have the 10K installed now?

Code 27 LED help, which bulb???

276085 is a 12 v led bulb, but I'm not familiar with the fix you're trying, so I can't say if it'll work. (I do have a couple in my truck attached to 12 v power, though).

    1K Clamp Mod

It sounds like you have done it the way I did...Are you sure that you don't have any shorts in there? Does the switch on your dash have any effect? Is it possible for you to get pictures?

    1K Clamp Mod

Which end of the 5.6k resistor did you solder the 1k resistor to? Other than the rough idle, will it set the CEL light just sitting there, or does it wait until you start driving?

    1K Clamp Mod

Your CEL light shouldn't be on. If you turn your key to on, but not start, does the light come on and then go right out (normal operation)? Or does it stay on? The .BMP file I attached a few posts up...does your assembly look like that? Using the diagram, where did you solder the red, black...

    New Bio-Diesel System

Here's a good site: Biodiesel & SVO Forums - Powered by eve community There sure is a lot of stuff to wade through there, so I'll tell you how I do mine. First, I fit a 3/4 water faucet into the 3/4 bung on the drum. Then, I setup the barrel to have a "coned" bottom to it. There are many...

    1K Clamp Mod

You've almost got it. I'd just add to send the other end of the diode chain to the switch and BACK to the ICP plug and connect it in the with gray/red wire. I think if you just ground it, there may be a possibility it would react funny.

    1K Clamp Mod

My pictures didn't come out well...parts to small for my camera...basically you can just see the ICP sensor and a wire....not very telling. Do you get it installed, too?

    1K Clamp Mod

It's a resistor that tricks your computer into supplying higher-pressure fuel to the injectors...more pressure = more fuel = more power.

    Dash pad/bumper

Are you talking about the dash pad itself, or are you talking about an aftermarket "cover" for the dash (to keep things from sliding, protecting plastic from sun damage, etc). I think the actual dash pad only comes in one piece, LMC has one here: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/0078.asp...

    1K Clamp Mod

For performance... I've only got last night & today on the new mod...but with the regular 10K mod, I couldn't spin out (except on gravel). With the clamp mod, I can do it soooo easy. On a 1 to 10 scale, I'd give the 10K mod a 3, and this other maybe a 6 or 7. Easily much better performance...

    1K Clamp Mod

Been playing around with this mod: Sensor-safe clamp version of 10K mod - Free Auto Advice Tech Forum I put it in last night...it's amazing :sly . But, I've got a few questions....some of the material I've been reading indicates this is better suited for the newer SD trucks and not the...

    10K Mod question

Any chance you can snap a picture of the wires installed into the ICP plug as well as the resistor? Did you solder the connections?

    10K Mod question

Here's a link to one with pictures: 10K Mod The hardest thing about it is finding the ICP plug...everything else is a snap. Yes, it's a good mod for those without a chip. If you've got a chip, it's a waste of time. Negatives -- rougher idle. There are more advanced methods to the mod so...

    Completely died while driving

Don't know if you've checked it, but there is a fuse for the IDM (I think it's #9). it may be toast, that'd cause the no-start. Codes is always good place to start...

Might Buy A Fiver, Need Help!!!

After going through buying from an individual, here's some suggestions on stuff to look for. 1. Was it winterized -- PROPERLY? PO of my trailer forgot to drain the water heater and it leaked BAD...$800-$1K to fix it. 2. Check for water damage & leaks (from rain). Not likely, but something...

    Bearing Noise

I jacked it up and tried to wiggle it...does seem to be a bit of movement there. Not a lot, but some. It is very hard to turn the wheel...It will stop on it's own within a half of a revolution. I guess the brake pads could be rubbing, but I don't think that's it. So -- looks like new...

    Bearing Noise

I need a bit of help diagnosing another problem. This morning on the way to work, things started off great. While driving down the interstate, I start hearing a grumbling type sound (actually kind of sounded like a hole in exhaust or something).. When I came to a stop at a light, the...

Couple of questions about the new 08's

Figured out what a PTC heater is: PTC stands for Positive Temperature Coefficient. I don't think that really means anything. What the PTC does is it's basically an electric heater. It does not use coolant like regular heaters do... The company that makes them says that, due to the newer...
