    Question Replacing fuel filter

Looked at some old paperwork, and when the local dealership did some work on my truck by mistake they replaced the fuel filter. So its only been 20k miles since it was changed. Still overdue, but not near as bad as i thought.

While Im fixing stuff, is there a recommended amount of time that you should clean your EGR? Ive done mine a few times because it was dirty, but never had it on a scheduled cleaning.

    Question Replacing fuel filter

yes, I know its my responsibility, just never thought about it. plan to get it done tomorrow morning. Its not a money issue, I just thought it was more of an every 50k mile thing, Given that its been so long and there is probably some stuff that had gotten through the old filter, is...

    Question Replacing fuel filter

Damn, I am way behind then. I have replaced it once since I bought my truck because I had water in the fuel. I've put atleast 25K, prob closer to 30+ since I replaced it that time. I never really thought it needed it more often because the oil change place never asked if I wanted it done...

    Question Replacing fuel filter

A friend of mine mentioned to me that he changes the fuel filter in his duramax about every 10K miles, which struck me as odd because I dont ever change mine. Got me to thinking im doing something wrong. How often should you change the fuel filter?

No start and I hear clicking like flashers

They both look clean on the connections to the battery, but tomorrow morning I will take all the cables off and clean just to make sure. I am also going to try and follow the wires to their connect spots elsewhere, but im sure that can be difficult. when you say test them individually, you...

No start and I hear clicking like flashers

Firgured I would post my similar issue here. My truck runs fine, but then recently the truck will not start on 3 occasions and requires a jump. once jumped its fine. The battery was checked and they say its good, and just last week I drove to louisiana and back, 4hours each way. When it...

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

IF they really made him pay for the mess up, it would have been $500-700 not 1600. after asking me to pay full price they offered $700 which they claimed would cover labor and parts cost with no markup. Then they offered $500ish which was supposed to be just parts. The sales rep told me they...

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

Got it back Friday. Funny story actually. Main problem was the EGR cooler gasket. The presure from the egr cause the gasket to give, letting coolant into the recirculating air. Funny part was that apparently there were 2 '05 F-350's in the shop at the same time(one being mine). Well...

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

just called the dealer and sounds like i will get the truck back tomorrow or Friday. Said something about blowing gasket on the EGR cooler(or something like that). Basically when the EGR gets clogged up, pressure builds, then boom. This allows coolant to leak into the recirculating air in the...

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

Dropped my truck off at the dealer today. The guy helping me said he assumed it was related to the EGR, and should be under warranty. Im hoping they cover it.

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

More Info: Today I let it warm up for about 10 minutes, but it didnt seem to make much diffrence. The white smoke stopped about the same time as yesterday, which is once I got on the feeder road at around 40mph. Once it stopped, it never started again. About 2.5hours later i went back out to...

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

My truck has had low coolant issues since ive owned it. Several people on here said that was probably caused by my tuner though. As for the glow plugs, start up does not seem to be that much different. But its possible that thestart up has slowed down over time, gradually.

    lots of white smoke/turbo maybe??

I was having the same issue this morning. This morning was 10-20 degrees coolerthan usual summer temps in houston. Mine had white smoke like a chimney, so I tested the computer with my programmer and it didnt read any problems. I attempted driving down the street and it poured out even worse...

    My new Wheels and Tires

I wouldnt say I get alot of business from it, but it does help. I do get alot of people telling me they saw my truck, but not necessarily say that they saw it and thats why they stopped in.

    My new Wheels and Tires

Business is going good. Still growing, and looking to be a good investment. I still enjoy it and make a decent living, so I guess that is all you can ask for.

    My new Wheels and Tires

I know that it needs to be lowered if its going to wear evenly, but I wasnt sure if the weight of the truck itself made it an issue. I pull a trailor maybe twice a year and usually its no bigger than a 12-16' double axle.

    My new Wheels and Tires

I have dropped my rear tire pressure to 38lbs, and I still seeing the dirt in the mddle of the tread. There is about 1" clean tire on each side of the tread. Is there any reason why I should not drop it lower to get even wear?

    question about new wheels

The 08 may be a little different, but my wheels had a 4.53 backspacing and -12 offset. I believe the BSing is the only real important number though. Mine do not rub at all, but I also have a 6" lift and a full front bumper replacement which gives me more clearance in the front. I had 325/65...

    My new Wheels and Tires

Decided to stick with 18's to save money and 35's since the people at 4wp said 37's would rub like crazy. I still think there is enough room to fit, but they are the professionals. Before After
