    Don't forget your transfer case. It uses the same fluid that you are pouring into the tranny. 2+ quarts, if I remember correctly.

    Your tranny will not have a drain plug in the converter. Follow the 4R100 flush article in the SDD Technical WIKI.;tu Valvoline Max life, Mobil 1, are real good. If you use Red Line. Make sure it is Mercon or Mercon V rated.

    Low line pressure or solenoid issues will cause that. If the OD off light is flashing, pull the codes. Sometimes low line pressure will not set any codes. Check the fluid level and condition. ;tu

    Another place to check is the tranny cross member. Sometimes the exhaust pipe will rest against it.

    That is the dust seal. It keeps the crap out of the tube. Well, supposed to keep crap out of the tube. Most of the time they are broken and flopping around the axle. :eek:

    I always use corn binder for my 7.3 parts. Much cheaper than Ford.

    Remove the valve covers, check for sludge. There are drain galleys in the head. I would expect to see that on a poorly maintained engine. :eek: If the oil is changed on a normal basis, it should be clean. :D Wont hurt to look.;tu

    Most likely its the pump seal. Use the upgraded Viton seal to replace it.
