    Coolant Test Strips

My Check Engine Coolant warning had popped up. I just wanted to check that these are the correct strips before I order them. http://www.acustrip.com/cgi-bin/proddesc.cgi?s=328-2050

    Question Instrument clusters.

Depending on the year the needles are probably controlled by stepper motors. If you can get to the back of the gauges you should be able to replace them. Provided you can find a part number. For the fuel gauge it might be wiring or the sending unit. I'm fighting the same issue with the wife's...

    Rear End (of F250) question

I'd go with the e-locker. I have it in my truck. On mine it's controlled on the 4x4 switch. It automatically unlocks above 25mph. But I've used it to get out of some loose sand and dirt.

Nice truck. I've wondered occasionally what my truck would look like with cab market lights. And now I know.

    Upfitter Switches

I'm going to ask something really dumb, so please excuse my ignorance. I found the big bundle of wires under the dash as well as the pass throughs on the firewall. In order to use the pass through wires do I need to connect wires to each other under the dash or are the pass through wires...

    Front Swaybar Bushings

All the bushings I've gotten have had grease come with them. There is a grease specifically for poly. Just be warned it's extremely sticky. You might want to wear gloves when you put it on. No problem. It's what we're here for.

    Front Swaybar Bushings

IMO poly is poly. I've used Energy Suspension, PST, and a couple of off brands. In fact I have no idea who made the link bushings currently on my Cobra and they work fine. The biggest thing I've found is keeping them greased.

    Front Swaybar Bushings

I've used Energy Suspension bushings in the past with good luck. I tend to swap to poly as the old bushings wear out. They last longer in my experience.

    Transmission issue

When it shifts into the gears that work is it a hard shift or a normal shift? Has anyone drained the fluid to see what's in the pan?

    Transmission temperature

The newer trucks run hot it seems. I watched mine on the way home today and it hit 182 after a half hour commute. That was a mix of street and freeway. The coolant temp will hit 240 on a hill during the summer when I'm towing. It usually cools down shortly thereafter though.

    Transmission temperature

I want to say mine is 190-200 when driving around town. I can't remember what it gets to when towing. Which means wasn't too worried about it. Wait until you see your coolant temp gauge moving past halfway. That's unnerving the first time.

    Ford F250 Super Duty

I think it would be better to know your budget and go from there. Also what are the plans for the truck? I'm assuming you'll be towing for your business. Do you know how much weight you'll be hauling?

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Finally decided to save a few bucks and do some maintenance myself. It's not that I can't, but I wanted the records at the dealer in case something came up for the warranty. The fuel filters definitely were easier than I thought they'd be. I didn't even need a wrench for the one in the engine bay.

    Helicopter like sound...

If it has a fan clutch the fan shouldn't be turning unless the engine is as a certain temp. I don't think it'll hurt anything in the long run. The engine might take longer to warm up with the fan running full time.

    Helicopter like sound...

Did you check your cooling fan? Maybe what you're hearing is the fan turning. Could be a bad fan clutch.

    Snow Chains

Wow. A lot of info. Thank you very much. I was planning on trying to install them before I went anywhere with them. It's like playing with a new toy for me anyway. Since the chains are going to be stored in the truck most of the time will it be hard to keep them from getting tangled?

    Snow Chains

What snow chains do you guys recommend for a 4x4? I'm planning on heading up to Big Bear towards the end of the month. I've heard I don't need chains with a 4x4, but I was looking at Big Bear's traffic site and it says I have to at least carry them. Which brings me to my next question... Do I...

Question Need advice on a 4" lift

So then going by what you said at the end the Bilsteins didn't make your truck ride stiff. Shocks and struts do make a difference in ride. The valving can change the way a vehicle rides. Sorry you had bad luck with Bilstein. I've had good luck with mine. And will be putting them on my truck...
